Tagging/naming a recording for future reference

Hi,
I used chronon recording server and gathered quite a few recordings. I made each recording with a different use case in mind and planned to view each one in the chronon debugger separately. Now, looking at the list of recordings in the recording UI, I am not able to recollect which recording was for which use case.
One way we could solve this problem easily would be to allow the user to rename the recording or tag a recording through the recorder UI. It would be great if the recorder UI also allowed the user to write comments against each recording entry. Any thoughts?

  • Current temporary workaround for this:

In your issue tracker, create a bug that contains machine name, recording number and put the needed description in that bug.
You can even just attach the recording itself to the bug report.

As for future implementation of this in Chronon:

We will definitely add this functionality to the recording server at some point however, we are still debating whether the ability to add descriptions should be in the recording server itself or whether it should be some kind of an integration with existing issue trackers.

Of course integration with issue trackers would be much harder since there are more than one of them....

But again we want to implement the solution that would work best for our users.

I am looking forward to seeing more debate on this here.

  • We have initial implementation of this in the debugger in 3.9.

This functionality will be moved to the Recording Server soon too.
